๐Ÿ––Hello!

Find the right UX methods for discovery, ideation, and testing, alongside other useful resources for product design and management.

Methods

Methods and activities are grouped into three sections, Discovery, Ideation and Testing, derived from an eight-phase UX design process.

Laws & Principles

In almost every profession, there are very smart people who have extensively contemplated specific aspects of their field and dedicated considerable time and effort to formulating theories, laws, and principles to assist others. The 'Laws & Principles' section of ProductDesignReference.com encompasses a multitude of these principles and laws, serving as guides through the process of product design.

Management

The 'Management' section contains useful information for design leadership and management organised into three areas: purpose, people and process. This follows Julie Zhuo's "three buckets" from her Wall Street Journal bestselling 2019 book, โ€˜The Making of a Manager: What to Do When Everyone Looks to Youโ€™, where she writes:

Your job, as a manager, is to get better outcomes from a group of people working together. Iโ€™ve come to think of the multitude of tasks that fill up a managerโ€™s day as sorting neatly into three buckets: purpose, people, and process.

Resources

The resources section is split into two main parts. The 'General' section includes a wide range of resources on product design, development, and business, saved on Raindrop. It also has product design books and a list of categorised product design terms on Notion. The 'Management' section filters out resources focused on design leadership and management from the main collection.

ProductDesignReference.com is built and maintained by Tony O'Donohoe, a product designer, manager and design leader with over 20 yearsโ€™ experience designing award-winning digital products and leading high-output design teams.
